You have 7 weeks before hiring freezes for the year | Remote100K Weekly #52

Good morning!

84 new $100k+ remote jobs posted this week, and the top of the range was spread across fields instead of stacked in engineering. Netflix is paying a Senior Motion Designer up to $420k, LaunchDarkly a sales director up to $415k, and Dropbox a VP of Revenue Operations up to $401k. The featured spot went somewhere quieter that pays the most on the floor: Praxis Precision Medicines, a clinical-stage biotech working on CNS and rare-disease therapies, wants a Head of Pharmacovigilance at $378k to $420k. It's a physician role with final say on drug safety across both trials and commercial products, the kind of accountable, defend-it-to-the-FDA seat that rarely sits at one desk, which is exactly why the pay runs this high.

Six we like this week:

⏰ THE HIRING WINDOW THAT CLOSES AT THANKSGIVING

Companies hire on a calendar as much as on need. Right now, in early October, many teams are staring at a budget they were handed for the year and a headcount they still haven't filled. That combination puts the market advantage on the side of job seekers and makes the next seven weeks one of the best stretches of the year to land an offer, and it's also why the window is about to narrow fast.

The pattern repeats every year. Through October and into early November, hiring managers push to close roles while the budget is still live and interviewers are still at their desks. Then Thanksgiving hits, key people take PTO, and a final-round loop that needs time on four or five calendars suddenly can't find a single open week. Reqs that weren't filled often roll into a new budget cycle, where they get reviewed, reprioritized, or cut altogether. A role that's urgent in October can be gone by January.

As such, the timing should change how you apply today.

Prioritize roles already posted

A job that's live right now carries budget and a manager who wants it filled this quarter. Those are the fastest-moving reqs on the market, so favor them over roles you're waiting to see appear.

Move at the company's speed, not yours

Reply to recruiters same-day, keep your calendar open, and take the earliest interview slot offered. In a normal month a slow reply costs you a few days. In November it can push your loop past the point where anyone is around to finish it.

Use the lull instead of fearing it

Plenty of candidates assume December is dead and stop applying. That thinning of the field is your opening. The companies still interviewing in late November and December tend to be the ones most serious about closing, and you'll be up against far fewer people. Keep going when others coast.

Keep the pipeline wide

The more applications you have in flight, the better your odds of catching a team that wants to sign before the break. This is where a tool like JobCopilot earns its keep: it watches the boards and applies to matching $100k+ roles for you in the background, so you stay in front of every budgeted opening without burning your evenings on forms.

Seven weeks is enough time to run a full search, from first application to signed offer, if you start now. Wait until the postings thin out and your search stalls until hiring picks back up in late January. The roles at the top of this email are live today, and the calendar is the one part you can't negotiate.

Keep applying,
